Elementary Songs in Creative Music Room offer a selection of original songs for kids designed to ignite children’s creative self-expression while enhancing balance, coordination, and rhythm through movement and dance. Moreover, these songs are crafted to bolster self-confidence and foster a sense of community through enjoyable, engaging music.
You will notice that the CMR songs on our website feature a variety of voices. That’s because there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to the voices of children and even teachers! Just as the songs are for all children, they are for all voices too — CMR is and will always be a place for everyone who loves sharing the magic of music.

Hello Songs and Welcome Songs
In music class, just like in life, first impressions matter! Creative Music Room’s Hello Songs and Welcome Songs provide the perfect transition activity into music class, allowing you to maximize learning time by engaging students even before they have fully entered the classroom. On top of that, CMR’s Hello and Welcome Songs all serve a purpose. Some teach Solfege, while others cover rhythmic work, call and response, silly movements, vocalizations, body percussion, and more. These are my go-to for each class. The students count on them, love them, and often ask, ‘Can we do it again?’
Note for 2025: As the new school year approaches, know that our October to December Hello Songs are coming soon!
"Hello High Low" is a simple yet engaging hello song that mentions each student by name. It will quickly become a classroom favorite.
This is a great hello song that has the teacher go around the circle greeting each student by name. Once the students learn the melody of the song Hello to You Again, they are eager to join in the singing.
This is a simple hello song that gets the students singing and moving before they even take a seat on their sit spot. Have fun!
"Thirds In Motion" is a more advanced hello song that you can sing with late elementary or even middle school singers.
This is a great way to get the kids moving and jumping before sitting down and doing a few activities that require a little more attention.
This hello song is an echo activity that reviews rhythms by speaking and clapping Kodály rhythm syllables.
"International Hello" is a fun song that teaches the phrases, “how are you? I am fine, and thank you” in four different languages.
"Handshake Hello" is a wonderful way to have the students come in and welcome each other to the classroom.
"A Solfege Hello" is a great song to welcome the class using the Solfege System with Curwen hand signs.
"Oh I See a Little Boy (Girl)" is hands down one of the most loved hello songs in the CMR catalog. The lyrics in this song are filled with blanks for the teacher to fill in adjectives that describe an identifying trait of a child in the class.
Movement Songs
Creative Music Room’s collection of original movement songs is intended to inspire children’s creative self-expression while also improving balance, coordination, and rhythm through movement and dance. In addition, I believe these songs support a sense of self-confidence and community through fun, engaging music!
Enjoy!
Interval Songs
Interval songs are like musical puzzles that help us understand the distance between two notes. In our elementary music class, we explore these songs to sharpen our ears and deepen our musical understanding. Interval songs are like musical journeys, where each interval—whether it’s a small skip or a giant leap—carries its own unique sound and feeling. By singing interval songs, we learn to recognize intervals like steps, skips, and jumps, paving the way for us to read and create music with confidence and joy.
Seasonal Songs
Seasonal songs add a sprinkle of magic to our elementary music class, capturing the essence and excitement of each time of the year. From the cheerful melodies of winter carols to the vibrant tunes of springtime, these songs not only celebrate the changing seasons but also teach us about traditions, cultures, and the natural world around us. Whether we’re singing about snowflakes, flowers blooming, or summer adventures, seasonal songs ignite our imagination and bring us together in harmony, fostering a love for music that resonates with the rhythm of the seasons.
This seasonal song points out the age-old Thanksgiving dilemma – choosing the right dessert!
Friendship Songs
Friendship songs are the heartwarming melodies that remind us of the bonds we share with our classmates and friends in our elementary music class. These songs celebrate the joys of companionship, teamwork, and support, teaching us the importance of kindness and empathy. Through cheerful tunes and uplifting lyrics, friendship songs inspire us to cherish the special connections we have with others, fostering a sense of unity and belonging within our classroom community. As we sing together, we learn valuable lessons about cooperation, acceptance, and the power of friendship to brighten our days and lift our spirits.
Goodbye Songs
Just as our CMR Hello Songs set the right tone for each music class, our Goodbye Songs serve to wrap up the class while providing a smooth transition to the students’ next class or activity.
Creative Music Room’s Goodbye Songs always have a purpose. Even when time is tight, I make time for a song that connects us one last time until the next session. Sometimes I only have time for a quick sol-mi ‘goodbye class’ call and response, but it’s always worth the effort. I believe it can set you up for success in your next class!
