Our music curriculum content guides for elementary students provide a structured yet flexible framework for teachers to engage their students in a holistic learning experience. Each curriculum content guide includes the following segments:
- Welcome – Creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. Sets the tone for the lesson and builds excitement.
- Sing – Encourages vocal exploration and expression. Children develop pitch accuracy and confidence through songs and chants.
- Play – Students interact with various instruments, enhancing their understanding of rhythm, melody, and harmony.
- Move – Integrates physical movement with music. Students express themselves through dance and body percussion, which also aids in their motor skill development.
- Learn – Focuses on teaching fundamental musical concepts, such as note values, dynamics, and tempo, in a fun and accessible way.

Welcome
The “Welcome” section of the content guide is centered around transforming your classroom into a productive learning environment for your students as they enter.
Activities in this category aim to target the following standards:
• Respond (audiate).
• Rhymes/Songs (unfamiliar and familiar tunes).
Sing
The “Sing” section of the content guide is centered around engaging students in musical concepts and activities through vocal training.
Activities in this category aim to target the following standards:
• Develop (pitch-matching, call-and-response, vocal health, vocal hygiene, breath control).
• Perform (diction, tone, quality).
Play
The “Play” section of the content guide is centered around game-based learning to dive deeper into musical concepts.
Activities in this category aim to target the following standards:
• Critical thinking (instrument play, problem-solving).
• Collaboration (working with peers).
Move
The “Move” section of the content guide is centered around kinesthetic learning to physically feel and interact with music.
